Wimbledon school crash update: Seven children and two adults injured
Seven children and two adults have been left injured after a car crashed into a primary school this morning.
The Met confirmed the injuries in an update, though the condition of those injured is unknown at this stage.
The car collided The Study Preparatory School in Camp Road, Wimbledon.
Wimbledon MP Stephen Hammond says he understands several people are fighting for their lives, with their conditions described as “critical”. He said he was “very concerned” and shared his thoughts and prayers.
The driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene and there have been no arrests after the collision at around 9.55am.
A major incident has been declared though the Met confirmed it is not treating this incident as terror related.
Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance have been at the scene treating those injured.
A statement from the Met said: “Police were called at 9.54am on Thursday, July 6, to reports that a car collided with a building at the school in Camp Road.
“At this time nine people are reported injured, these include two adults and seven children. We await further updates on their conditions.
“An investigation is under way to understand the full circumstances of what has taken place.”
