Wireless Festival found to generate £4.8million for South London businesses

New research into the economic impact of the Wireless Festival in 2022 found it generated £4.8million for businesses in the park’s four surrounding boroughs.

An Economic Impact Assessment – commissioned by Festival Republic – for the 2022 Wireless Festival at Crystal Palace Park also found the event made £28million profit to the UK economy.                                       

Profits included £500,000 that organisers spent on 14 organisations across Bromley, Croydon, Lambeth and Southwark, and more than £2million spent by festival-goers and staff in hotels and guest houses in the area.

In addition to spending by attendees, Festival Republic spent £10.7million on suppliers, contractors, artists and staff payroll in production of the festival.

About 2,400 people worked at the festival for an average of 40 hours each and 960 staff members live in one of the adjoining boroughs. 

Melvin Benn, managing director of Festival Republic, said: “This survey demonstrates that the local Crystal Palace Park community continues to benefit enormously, which is what I had hoped to see. 

“This underscores our commitment to not just organising world-class events, but leaving a positive impact that resonates beyond the festival grounds.”
