Woman dies after Plumstead house fire

A woman has died after a house fire in Plumstead in the early hours this morning.

The blaze tore through the ground floor of a mid-terraced property in Nithdale Road.

Firefighters rescued a woman from the property, but she was later declared dead at the scene by a Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) team.

The London Fire Brigade (LFB) was first called to the incident at around 1.50am.

Crews from Plumstead, Eltham, and Sidcup fire stations had the incident under control by around 2.40am.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the LFB and the Met police.
