On-loan Norwich defender ruled out until December as Charlton boss hails his early influence

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

Akin Famewo is set to be unavailable for Charlton until early December due to a hamstring injury.

The Lewisham-born defender, who is on a season-long loan from Norwich City, has missed the last two League One matches with the problem.

“We’ve been told he will be around four weeks,” said Addicks manager Lee Bowyer. “We don’t know if he will be that long, but that’s the indication from the medical team.

“For such a young lad he is a real winner. His attitude has been spot on. I’ve been really impressed with him.”

The Addicks chief is set to rest some of his squad for Saturday’s FA Cup tie against Plymouth Argyle. But he will use this weekend’s match and next Tuesday’s EFL Trophy tie at home to Leyton Orient to get competitive minutes into Marcus Maddison.

Club captain Jason Pearce will feature against the O’s. Midfielder Alex Gilbey is still a couple of weeks away from training outside.
