Billy Mitchell has been handed his first senior start for Millwall in tonight’s League Cup tie at Oxford United.
The 18-year-old midfielder did make a substitute appearance for the Lions on the final day of the last Championship campaign at Wigan Athletic.
But Millwall manager Neil Harris has opted to start Mitchell in the third round tie.
Other changes for the Lions see Luke Steele start in goal with Shaun Hutchinson, Jon Dadi Bodvarsson and Jayson Molumby all getting game time too.
There is also a return for Tom Elliott, the striker had been missing after injuring his hamstring in the opening pre-season friendly at Concord Rangers but got minutes under his belt for the club’s U23s at Leeds last week.
Millwall: Steele, McCarthy, Hutchinson, Cooper, Ferguson, O’Brien, Molumby, Williams, Mitchell, Bodvarsson, Elliott. Subs: M Wallace, Thompson, Smith, Romeo, Mahoney, Leonard, Bialkowski.
Oxford United: Eastwood, Moore, Hall, Long, Forde, Mousinho, Baptiste, Sykes, Mackie, Hanson, Berkoe. Subs: Stevens, Cadden, Dickie, Woodburn, Henry, Thorne, Goodrham.
