Palace striker not seeking summer exit
Christian Benteke has expressed his desire to stay at Crystal Palace – despite a potential summer switch to China.
The 28-year-old striker has one year left on his contract in SE25.
Benteke has been linked with a £15million move to Shandong Luneng Taishan.
The Eagles striker told HLN: “China is not on my mind right now. I prefer to stay at Crystal Palace. I want to stay in England.
“I started well in England, I want to finish in style too. I don’t want to run away like a thief in the night.
“I injured my knee last season and played through pain. I never felt 100 per cent this season.
“I didn’t feel like the main target upfront.”
Benteke played 19 times last season, only scoring in the 3-2 win at Arsenal at the end of April.
Palace paid £27m for the Belgian international to take him from Liverpool in August 2016.
