Peep Show’s home to Jez and Mark to get new community garden

By Tara O’Connor, Local Democracy Reporter

A new community garden and cafe could soon be created in the middle of the block of flats made famous by comedy series Peep Show.

A planning application submitted to Croydon council also includes five new flats.

Developers want to use part of the existing car park of Zodiac Court in London Road for the new development.

The block of flats was home to Mark and Jez in Peep Show, in which it was called Apollo House.

The four-floor office part of the brutalist building has been empty since the 1960s and is currently being transformed from a vacant 1960s office block into flats by developer Common Projects.

The whole building is being revamped by the developer, with architect Shedkm redesigning it into apartments.

The plans also include a new ‘Broad Green Common’ which would be a green space and community pavilion on the corner of London Road and Charfield Road.

The space could include a play area, allotment or outdoor gym, while the pavilion would be available for community groups.

Steve Sanham, director of Common Projects, said the company has been working with groups coordinated by Big Local Broad Green to come up with ideas for the area.
