Person killed after being hit by train at Penge East station
A person has been killed after they were hit by a train in Penge today.
British Transport Police were called to the Penge East Station at 11.50am after reports of a casualty.
They said the death is non suspicious.
A spokeswoman for BTP said: “Shortly after 11.50am today (17 April) British Transport Police were called to the line close to Penge East station following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
“Officers attended the scene, alongside paramedics however a person was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. This incident is not currently being treated as suspicious.
“Officers are now working to identify the person and inform their family. A file will be prepared for the coroner.”
There is significant disruption between Brixton and Beckenham Junction.
