Playwright wins national theatre competition
A Lewisham playwright has been chosen as one of 10 winners out of 400 of a national theatre competition.
Karla Ptacek’s entry Careful looks at how siblings have conflicting versions of family history and explores the themes of power, representation and how we narrate our own lives.
The competition judges praised the play, saying it had dark humour, engaging female characters and a simple but effective concept.
Ms Ptacek’s play, along with the nine other winners of the TakeTen competition, will be performed at Chesil Theatre in Winchester later this year.
