Rambo-style knife seized after police stop teenager in Tooting

Police seized a large Rambo-style knife in Tooting after they stopped and searched a man.

Officers were on proactive patrol in Trinity Road at around 12.40pm yesterday when they saw a man riding an electric scooter on the pavement.

The officers stopped the 19-year-old man and carried out a search, and found concealed in his trousers a Rambo-style knife.

It was seized and the man was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon. He currently remains in police custody.

Sergeant Leon Coltress said: “The weapon seized today could have caused serious harm if we hadn’t conducted this stop and search, proving just how valuable this tactic is.

“Tackling violence is our top priority and we will continue to target those who carry weapons and commit offenses.”

Call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you have any information about serious crime.
