When Claire Humphreys walked through the doors of her local Slimming World group, never in her wildest dreams did she think it would open the door to a whole new lifestyle and an immense love of running.

Just months later Claire is an amazing 4st lighter and has taken running to a level she never could have foreseen.

Ten weeks after the birth of her second child, Claire knew she needed to make changes, and the local Slimming World group in Grove Park, SE12 was just where she needed to be. “I had done so many other “quick fix diets” that just made me pile it back on plus some” she said, “so after having Rebecca someone said I could do Slimming World while breastfeeding and it was more of a lifestyle change than a fad diet. I’ve never looked back.”

The healthy changes she has made to her shopping, cooking and eating through Food Optimising has meant not only has she lost weight, leaving her just a couple of pounds from her dream target weight, but she was able to feed the whole family with the same delicious meals each day, and continue breast feeding.

Claire has embraced Body Magic, Slimming World’s promotion of increased activity, becoming one of the group’s most ardent ambassadors for being more active, and has encouraged other members to become more active at the same time. When she joined the group, she could barely manage a few minutes of jogging, and has now completed some amazing distances, including a half marathon distance in just 2hrs 4mins.

As an active part of the group, Claire attends image therapy, switching between the two sessions on a Tuesday as work allows. The busy mum-of-two is able to help other members make the same great choices, sharing recipe ideas and helping them to lose weight, too.

Claire was recently voted the group’s Miss Slinky just a few weeks ago. In her thank you to the group Claire related how Slimming World has helped her make changes in her life with food and she now feels like a completely new person.

Grove Park’s consultant Ellie couldn’t be prouder. She said: “Claire was my first breastfeeding mum in group and we have really learnt how the plan works for breastfeeding mums together and supported other new mums who have joined over the last year.”
