‘A bad decision’ – AFC Wimbledon boss wants explanation after penalty shout was denied in Accrington draw
Johnnie Jackson believed AFC Wimbledon were denied a clear penalty in their 2-2 draw with Accrington Stanley on Tuesday evening.
The South Londoners were 2-0 down when striker Matty Stevens beat Accrington stopper Billy Crellin to the ball after he dropped it from a cross in the 81st minute.
But referee Ben Atkinson failed to blow for a clear penalty after Crellin denied Stevens from getting a shot off inside the area.
Jackson was cautioned after the incident.
Alistair Smith and James Tilley scored late on as the Dons secured a point in second-half stoppage time.
“The keeper has dropped the ball and then my player gets between the ball and the keeper, who bundles him over.
“It looked a really easy one to give. I would like to hear the explanation as to why.
“Matty is not going to go down there if he has a chance to score. I don’t understand that one.
“It would have given us a chance to affect the game earlier. It’s a bad decision – that’s all I can say.”
