‘About 25 times’ – Sheffield United boss fumes over penalty decision in Millwall defeat

Chris Wilder was furious that referee Sam Allison failed to award Sheffield United a penalty in their 1-0 defeat to Millwall on Tuesday night.

The Blades wanted a spot kick in the first half for Jake Cooper pulling Anel Ahmedhodzic’s shirt from a corner, but the referee waved play on.

Alex Neil’s side claimed all three points with a first-half strike from Josh Coburn – a result that moved them three points off the play-offs.

“Absolutely,” said Wilder when asked if his side should have had a penalty.

“One hundred per cent. It’s just ridiculous.

“We had the referee last year in the Premier League and it’s always about him.

“Everyone felt that before the game and during the game.

“I’m not trying to get anyone booked or sent off, but Josh Coburn fouled both of our centre-halves about 25 times and he never produced a yellow card at all.

“I’m always frustrated when I see that referee given to us off the back of what happened last year.

“He wasn’t the reason we lost, we’re looking leggy and anxious at the moment.”
