AFC Wimbledon boss Jackson frustrated by his side’s absence of clinical touch in Bromley loss
BY MITCHELL HALL
Johnnie Jackson felt AFC Wimbledon created the chances to equalise but needed to do better in front of goal during their 1-0 loss to Bromley yesterday.
He found his Dons side playing catch-up after a bizarre Corey Whitely opener set them back in the 76th minute, despite the hosts dominating possession.
The result cost Wimbledon vital points in their League Two promotion race and marked the first goal they had conceded in five straight games at Plough Lane.
Jackson chalked the incident up to an isolated mistake, but pointed to his side’s attacking unit also being responsible for the result.

“Around the time that they scored, we were completely dominant in the game,” said the Wimbledon boss. “You are thinking that we are going to push hard for a winner, and then we go and gift them a goal like that. You can’t legislate for that.
“We have not conceded that type of goal all season, so we have to learn from it. I want my defenders to deal with that situation. Joe Lewis obviously will know that he should do better in that situation. But we always talk about the clean sheets being a team thing, and we will take that as a collective, that we have made the mistake there.
“We have still got to do more at the other end to put the ball in the net, because we had the chances to.
“We had much better openings than Bromley, certainly in the second half, and we did not score a goal. So there was that incident, but we had time to turn it around, and we did not manage it.

“For large parts, we played well today. Obviously we gave away a howler of a goal, but we created loads, and we certainly created a lot more today than we have in the last few games.
“We continue on our path and we are in a good position. We have got a game in three days to try and go and win.
“Every time that we have had a setback we have generally responded pretty well, so we will just prepare for the next game.”
