AFC Wimbledon check on released QPR versatile midfielder

AFC Wimbledon have checked on Stephen Duke-McKenna, with the versatile midfielder now a free agent after being released by Championship side QPR, the South London Press understands.

The 23-year-old spent the second half of the 2023-24 season on loan at Sutton United, making 16 appearances and recording four goal contributions.

Duke-McKenna came through the ranks at Everton before joining QPR in 2019.

He made 10 senior appearances for the West Londoners and also had spells at Torquay United and Leyton Orient, where he was a part of Richie Wellens’ side that won promotion to League One in the 2022-23 season.

Duke-McKenna has turned out at right-back, either side of midfield, as an attacking midfield and as a centre midfielder during his senior career.

The Dons kickstarted their summer business by signing striker Matty Stevens as a free agent after he was released by Forest Green.
