AFC Wimbledon’s Ryan Johnson and Josh Kelly were on target as the hosts recorded a 2-0 friendly win over Charlton Athletic at Plough Lane this afternoon.
Centre-back Johnson produced an excellent first-time finish from Josh Neufville’s low delivery in the 65th minute.
And it was to get even better for the Dons, bossed by former Charlton captain and manager Johnnie Jackson, as substitute Josh Kelly produced a clinical effort across Will Mannion from Callum Maycock’s pass.
The Addicks did not create many chances with Matt Godden twice going close in the first period. The summer signing from Coventry City needed to be bandaged up after sustaining damage above his left eye from one of his headed attempts on Owen Goodman’s goal.
The Addicks did not have two of the triallists who had been on show in earlier matches at Plough Lane – with Teddy Bishop and Dan Potts not listed in Jones’ matchday squad.
