Andy Woodman: My Bromley players should be proud of their efforts
Andy Woodman has told his Bromley players to be proud of themselves despite their 3-2 play-off defeat against Hartlepool United today.
The result means that the Ravens will spend another season in the National League.
“Everything we have done and built ourselves on we didn’t do in the first half,” Woodman told BT Sport.
“We can say that we didn’t do certain things, but we have to give a bit of credit to Hartlepool. They were all over us. Every second ball they were on to.
“There is no grudge from me, the only thing I was a bit disappointed about was we didn’t give an account of ourselves in the first half, that we have done since I’ve been here.
“[At half time] it wasn’t a shouting teamtalk at half time. I was really disappointed for them because I know all their families would be watching. I said: ‘You have to go out there and show a bit of pride for the people at home watching, the fans’.
“We gave ourselves a mountain to climb in the second half. I still fancied us, believe it or not, to win the game. But it wasn’t meant to be. I’ve said to the boys they should still be very proud of themselves.
“It would have been a travesty had we have got the equaliser. But we had a go and that is our team, we keep having a go. We had a little spell after half time, but they kept the ball and killed of our momentum.
“I really hope they [Hatlepool] go up. My boy was here on loan and it’s a good club so I’m now rooting for Hartlepool, good luck to them.”
