Andy Woodman unimpressed by Bromley display in 1-1 draw against Southend United

Andy Woodman labelled Bromley’s 1-1 draw against Southend United as their “worst” performance of the season.

The Ravems had the chance to go top of the National League with a win, but failed to capitalise after Matt Dennis equalised for the Shrimpers after Michael Cheek had given the Ravens the lead.

Bromley had to play the last 20 minutes of the game with 10 men after Liam Trotter went off. Woodman had already made three substitutes.

Woodman said: “It’s the worst we’ve played. We had a good start first five-10 minutes then lost our way, we didn’t make enough passes.

“We kept trying to do everything with one pass, and gave them a bit of confidence. Fair play to Southend, they came and did a job on us.

“We are so much better than that. I’m disappointed the lads didn’t give a good account of themselves. We just didn’t look ourselves. You can blame Christmas or Covid, I don’t think it was any of that, it was just a bad day at the office.

“We’ve got a couple of young boys in there, so I can’t be too hard on them. We’ll just get on the training ground and we will work again like we’ve done all season.

“I’ve got no doubts that these boys will bounce back. We haven’t lost but it feels like we’ve lost. We had the unfortunate injury to one of our players.

“You could argue that we should’ve kept a sub aside and not used it so early, but that’s not our style, we go for it. There was a lot of things that went against us today.”

“We’re in a great position, let’s not get to down about it. We are in a great position still.”
