Belverdere Boxing Club’s teenage talent wins Winter Box Cup

Belverdere Boxing Club’s Hayley Riddle has won the England Boxing Women’s Winter Box Cup – and also picked up an award for being the most promising junior boxer in the competition

The tournament was streamed live on BBC iPlayer.

Teenager Riddle also won the 2019 England Boxing National Development Championships recently.

She defeated Amy Judge in the Winter Box Cup final and had defeated Priya Virk in the semi-final stage.

The 16-year-old said: “Our next step is to win the youth championship next year, to make my Olympic 2024 dream even closer, I am full of intent.”

Belverdere Boxing Club’s head coach Damola Ojo said: “We will keep making improvements and adjustments so all the targets are met.

“Hayley has done exceptionally well again. We are so proud of her, winning the competition is one thing but to be singled as the most promising boxer of the tournament is testament to her hard work and also the work we have put into her.”
