Birmingham boss delivers verdict after victory over Millwall
Birmingham City boss John Eustace said his side defended for their lives to grind out their 1-0 win against Millwall on Tuesday night.
The Blues scored the only goal of the game in the 27th minute thanks to Lukas Jutkiewicz’s shot from a tight angle.
Millwall had 21 shots during the 90 minutes but failed to find a way past Blues keepers John Ruddy and Neil Etheridge, who was subbed on at half-time.
“I’m immensely proud,” Eustace told Brimingham’s YouTube channel.
“I was really proud of the travelling fans as well and the way they supported us through the game tonight.
“That performance was a very, very good performance. It was an electric atmosphere and we really went toe-to-toe with a good team.
“We started the game really well – we were on the front foot.
“We played in the right areas and Jutkiewicz took his goal brilliantly.
“Coming here, we knew there would be lots of moments where you have to defend your box for your lives and throw your body on the line. All 17 players did that tonight.
“It was a brilliant performance.”
