Charlton Athletic attacker can be magical – but needs to have more belief in his quality
Charlton manager Karl Robinson has told Karlan Ahearne-Grant to have more confidence in his ability.
The attacker made a difference as a half-time change for Ben Reeves, forced off with a hamstring injury, in Tuesday’s 2-1 win over Rochdale.
Ahearne-Grant only has one league goal for the Addicks in 32 appearances, 20 of those coming as a substitute.
He failed to hit the target with a late chance at Oxford United and headed straight at Rochdale keeper Joshua Lillis in midweek.
“Karlan has got to believe in himself more – he is lacking in confidence,” said Robinson. “He does things that are magical.
“It is for me to bring it out of him. I believe in him – if I didn’t I wouldn’t bring him on as much.
“But he has got to start assisting and scoring goals.”
