Charlton Athletic captain Chris Solly due testimonial – and reveals dream opposition
BY RICHARD CAWLEY
Chris Solly is due a testimonial at Charlton Athletic – but admits his only focus right now is being part of a promotion-winning squad.
The club captain, 27, came through the youth ranks at the SE7 outfit.
Solly still has two years to run on his Addicks deal.
“As a pro this is my 10th year and I am due a testimonial which the club have agreed to,” he said. “It is just finding the right time.
“If I could get anyone it would be Arsenal [his boyhood team] but I can’t see that happening. In pre-season Premier League teams are all over the world.
“I’m sure we’ll arrange it at a later date, it isn’t a priority. My priority is to try and get out of this league.
“It [the testimonial] will be a great day when it comes around. Ten years as a pro has just flown by.”
