Charlton Athletic have fresh injury concern for Cambridge United match

Corey Blackett-Taylor has emerged as a fresh injury concern for Charlton Athletic.

The Addicks are waiting to discover the full extent of centre-back Lucas Ness’ knee injury.

And winger Blackett-Taylor has also been sent for a scan after picking up a hamstring issue in Tuesday’s 4-1 win at Morecambe.

Terell Thomas was also replaced in the closing stages by Mandela Egbo, who has also missed a big chunk of the campaign with injuries.

Holden said: “We’ll see on Lucas Ness. He’s seeing a specialist next week. He has got a bit of damage to his patella tendon. We’re not sure, but the physios don’t think it is too bad. We need to get the experts’ opinion on that, I think that’s Wednesday of next week.

“Terell Thomas, it was just cramp in his calf where he hadn’t played for so long and everything that goes into a big performance – the emotion and adrenaline. He should be okay.

“Corey Blackett-Taylor, we’re a little bit worried about. He had a scan this morning. He felt something in the game and thought it was cramp, in his hamstring, but he is being assessed. We’ll wait for results on that, so fingers crossed.”

Tyreece Campbell played the full 90 minutes at Morecambe.

“I said to him that he should’ve been banging my door more than he has done,” said Holden. “Because he came in and played brilliantly against Barnsley.

“He played really well the other night. His drive and the way he picks the ball up – his positivity – I’d hate to play against him. He puts you on the back foot. If we look at the goal he assisted for, he’s taking the defender on and had that moment of calmness where he has done the chop, took a second to calm himself and a brilliant ball to the back post for Corey.

“He’s such an exciting young player. I’m sure Steve Avory would’ve been watching the game the other night and be pretty pleased.”
