Charlton Athletic interested in free agent Cambridge United goalkeeper

Charlton Athletic are interested in adding former AFC Wimbledon youngster Will Mannion to their ranks.

The 26-year-old goalkeeper is set to be a free agent this summer.

Mannion had been offered a contract extension by Cambridge United but looks likely to move on.

The South London Press understands that Charlton are intent on bringing in two goalkeepers in the summer transfer window and will also target an experienced one to battle it out for the number one jersey.

Mannion played the final nine matches of the League One season as the U’s secured their survival at the level.

He joined Wimbledon at the age of 16 before opting to sign a three-year contract with Hull City in July 2016 – with the initial fee of £100,000 decided by a tribunal.

Mannion has been capped twice at U19 level.

Charlton already have two goalkeepers contracted to them next season in Harry Isted and Ashley Maynard-Brewer. But Jones is determined to overhaul that department.
