Charlton Athletic set for summer talks with loanee midfielder

Charlton Athletic manager Nathan Jones says there will be a discussion over Terry Taylor’s long-term future in the summer.

The 23-year-old has spent the second half of the League One campaign on loan at Northampton Town but was unable to feature in Friday’s fixture at The Valley due to the terms of the agreement.

Taylor joined Charlton from Burton in July 2023 with his deal running until the summer of 2026.

The midfielder has scored once in 16 matches for the Cobblers.

“Terry is still our player,” Jones told the South London Press. “We decided to make certain decisions around the January window to streamline the squad.

“We felt it was best for Terry to go and get games – that has proved a very, very good decision. As it has with Zach Mitchell.

“We will evaluate everything at the end of the season.

“Terry has done what we expected him to do. He is a fantastic individual and human being – a really good footballer. We knew he would do well.

“He has had a good second half of the season when he has maybe a frustrating calendar year before that.

“We are really pleased with him. We will sit down with Terry at the end of the season and see where we go.”
