Charlton boss Bowyer set for sitdown talks over his Valley future

Lee Bowyer is set down for talks with Lieven De Turck over his Charlton contract offer.

The Addicks boss told the South London Press earlier this week that the deal put to him was incentivised.

Bowyer, due to be a free agent at the end of June, looks set to try and progress negotiations with De Turck, who is in the UK negotiating takeover talks.

It’s got to be hoped that these negotiations progress far more efficiently than the sale of the club. Despite a number of interested parties, Duchatelet’s asking price is ensuring the situation drags on.

Bowyer has done an excellent job since initially taking on the managerial role on a caretaker basis from Karl Robinson. The Addicks will at least make it two League One play-off finishes on his watch – with an outside chance they could still sneak the second automatic promotion berth.

“I’ve just gone back to Lieven, who is dealing with it, and said: ‘Can we just have a meeting”‘,” said Bowyer.

“He has given me a couple of dates and we’ll go through that. It’s better to do it face to face, it’s easier.”
