Charlton boss Jones on Aneke red card: ‘There is more on that – I can promise you’
Charlton Athletic manager Nathan Jones has been left unhappy at Chuks Aneke’s red card in today’s 4-0 win at Wycombe Wanderers.
The big forward was shown a straight red card after tangling with Luke Leahy off the ball. It appeared that the Chairboys player initially kicked out at Aneke as the pair clashed.
Referee Will Finnie only punished Aneke, who is set to miss three matches.
If Charlton end up in the League One play-offs then the former Arsenal and MK striker would not be able to feature in the first leg.
The South Londoners are already missing Miles Leaburn, with a quad injury ending his campaign.
Jones was asked about Aneke’s dismissal but was not hugely expansive with his answer. He said: “I had the perfect view and an ever better view now on TV. There is more on that, I can promise you.”
Asked the same question by Charlton TV, Jones simply replied: “I’ll be going to see the referee now.”
Aneke is out of contract at the end of the season.
