Charlton boss Lee Bowyer: I’m not surprised Chris Solly has struggled to find a new club
Charlton boss Lee Bowyer says he is not surprised that Chris Solly has struggled to find a club.
The 29-year-old left the Addicks when his contract expired in June.
Solly has played 312 matches for the South Londoners and was granted a testimonial in July 2019 against Aston Villa.
The right-back’s last competitive match was for Charlton against Derby on December 30.
Asked about Solly still being a free agent, Bowyer replied: “I’m not surprised, to be honest.
“It’s difficult for players now. A lot of clubs don’t have a lot of money – especially lower down.
“So I’m not really surprised. There are other players…we’ve just brought in Chris Gunter and he was out there – 97 caps for Wales, their most-capped player. He found it difficult to get a club higher up.
“I think Chris will find it difficult to get a club.”
Yeah but Chris can do some coachin dahn our gaff, get all the up n comin players all sor’ed ahrt.
