Charlton boss Lee Bowyer over the moon to see fans back at The Valley
BY LOUIS MENDEZ
It’s been 196 long days since Charlton last played in front of their supporters but Lee Bowyer was delighted to see 1,000 allowed in against Doncaster.
The 3-1 defeat was chosen as a test event to trial getting supporters into the stadium in a coronavirus-secure manner.
The returning fans didn’t get the result they wanted but Bowyer was delighted to see them back in The Valley. All the Addicks games had been played behind-closed-doors since the 1-0 home loss against Middlesbrough back in March.

He said: “I’m over the moon. There was only 1,000 there but they kept singing. It was great when everyone first walked on. It gives you little goose bumps, well it did for me. We missed them so much.
“Only 1,000, hopefully it went well regarding that side of things and we can start bringing some more back in. They’ve been well missed.”
