Lee Bowyer has revealed that the contract offer made by Charlton owner Roland Duchatelet is incentivised.
The Addicks boss is out of contract in June – along with assistant Johnnie Jackson and goalkeeping coach Andy Marshall.
Duchatelet tabled a deal to Bowyer last week which the manager described as “a bit different”.
Charlton have lost just once in 2019 and still have an outside chance of sneaking a top two position in League One.
The danger is that other clubs could be attracted to Bowyer, who is nailed on to at least produce a play-off finish for the second season in a row. He was recently linked with the vacancy at QPR.
After Saturday’s 2-0 victory at Plymouth, Bowyer said he would be requesting a “normal” offer from Duchatelet.
“What they have put to me is a bit different,” the Addicks chief told the South London Press on Monday morning. “I want to see if there’s also something that is normal.
“It’s more like an incentive contract than just a normal basic wage. It’s more like an incentivised one.
“They were just going to see what I thought of it and then come back to me with a normal basic wage on.
“This one is something a bit different.”
Charlton, unbeaten in nine matches, are in action at Wycombe Wanderers tonight.
Like Mr Bowyer. He should be offered a Salary equal to the going rate with an added bonuses
Typical penny pinching again!!!! Should be falling over themselves to keep him for the job he has done !!! if the QPR job does come up he will take it and who could blame him !!!
He should be offered a package. Basic wage, motor car and luncheon vouchers.
