Charlton captain George Dobson sees Fehervar switch postponed until the summer transfer window

Fehervar FC have claimed that Charlton pulled the plug on a deal for George Dobson which was set to go through on Monday.

The Addicks club captain had been poised to fly to Budapest on Monday to wrap up a transfer that would have gone through immediately as the Hungarian transfer window is still open.

But Fehervar have posted a statement about the move no longer taking place now but adding that Dobson will officially join them on July 1 when his Charlton terms run out.

“In recent days our club has agreed on all terms with George Dobson’s club regarding the immediate transfer in February, however the London club backed out of the deal at the last moment, so the midfielder will be a player at our club from July 1,” said the statement on their website.

Fehervar’s managing director Attila Balogh said: “It seemed that George Dobson could join us before the February 14 deadline. However, his current club withdrew from the transfer at the last second, despite the fact that the parties had agreed on all conditions in writing and the young midfielder’s family had already moved, and our club organised the usual medical examinations and paperwork.”
