Charlton midfielder Josh Cullen is “a machine” – and could return at Preston North End

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

Josh Cullen has a chance of featuring for Charlton Athletic at Preston North End on Saturday.

The on-loan West Ham midfielder has been out with an ankle injury which he suffered against Cardiff City in November.

But Cullen – a pivotal player for the Addicks both this season and the last campaign when they won promotion from League One – was due to resume full training today.

Charlton manager Lee Bowyer said: “It might be a bit too soon for this weekend.

“But if you think when he did his shoulder he was out for longer than three months and I chucked him back in and he did 90 minutes. The kid’s a machine.

“There is a good chance if he gets through the next couple of days that he’ll be travelling with us to Preston.

“Our bench will be stronger. Jonny Williams is back, Jake Forster-Caskey will come in at the weekend and Erhun Oztumer has been training all week. Tomer is back as well.

“I’ll have to speak to our medical department to see what they can do.”
