Charlton midfielder Scott Fraser: My loan move to Hearts dragged on

Scott Fraser has spoken of his frustration at his loan move to Hearts “dragging” after the midfielder completed his switch from Charlton Athletic yesterday.

The Scottish club had lined up a deal earlier in January.

But Charlton were in no hurry to press through with the temporary transfer as Hearts were not picking up a sizeable portion of the former Ipswich and MK players’s salary.

Fraser did make the move north of the border yesterday. He told their official X account: “It’s felt a long time coming but finally we got it done and I’m over the moon.

“I passed the medical a week ago.

“I think Joe (Savage, Hearts’ sporting director) has been more stressed than me the last 12-13 days. I know how hard he has been working with my agents and Charlton.

“We had our daughter 16 months ago, so that has been the most incredible thing that has ever happened. It’s tough being in London – to Dundee it is not easy to get to. You travel Saturday to Tuesday, it’s hard for the missus being down here by herself.

“But I wasn’t just coming to London to get home. I wanted to come to the right sort of club. When a club like Hearts comes in for you it’s not like I need much persuasion. It’s let’s get the deal done as quickly as we can but that dragged on.

“I’m Scottish – I watch every Scottish football match that is on. I know how big and good the club is.”
