Charlton’s Miles Leaburn has most goal involvements of any teenager playing in the Football League

Miles Leaburn has the most goals has scored more goals and has more goal involvements than any other teenager in the EFL this season.

The 19-year-old took his goal haul to 10 for the season in all competition – nine of those in the League One. The big striker has had 11 goal involvements for the Addicks.

Leaburn netted in today’s 1-1 draw against Wycombe Wanderers.

“He’s growing every week,” said Charlton boss Holden. “You see the stick that he’s getting from certain centre-backs again today, he’s had to deal with that. His temperament is good but he’s still got to work on that – he has a bit of retaliation in him, but he’s a winner.

“It’s difficult when you get the stick that he gets.

“In terms of his goal involvement, that’s excellent for a young player, considering he has missed bits of the season. He’s not had a full season to get his rhythm. He needs to reset his objectives, as we said to Jes (Rak-Sakyi) last weekend.”

Wycombe centre-back Ryan Tafazolli was only booked by referee Scott Oldham in the second half for a lunging tackle which connected with Leaburn’s ankle.

“I didn’t see it clear enough,” said Holden, when asked about the incident. “I’m certainly not going to get involved in that, with referees. He took some stick today but that’s brilliant for his experience. He’ll learn to live with that.

“We picked up quite a few more yellow cards than them but I’ve got no complaints at all.

“We created some good chances and had more attempts on goal than them. Their goal comes out of nothing and even after that we responded and had some chances towards the end.

“You can see the way the supporters clapped us off today, they could see that we played well.”
