Contract talks yet to progress for Crystal Palace striker
Jean-Philippe Mateta and Crystal Palace are yet to make any progress over a contract extension, the South London Press understands.
The French striker has had a stellar 2024, netting 19 times so far in all competitions.
He scored 13 times under Oliver Glasner at the end of the 2023-24 season and was called up to Thierry Henry’s France side for the Olympics, scoring five goals as they made the final and picked up a Silver medal.
The former Lyon and Mainz forward has put himself under consideration by Didier Deschamps for the senior France squad due to his heroics during the Olympic Games.
Mateta came straight back into Oliver Glasner’s starting line-up for the 2-1 defeat at Brentford on Sunday.
The 27-year-old wants to play Champions League football and has had interest from Aston Villa and Napoli over the summer.
He has two years, plus a club option, left to go on his deal at Selhurst Park.
