Croydon Harriers maintained their successful early-season momentum last weekend, achieving two league victories with a lower age UK Development League win at Hornchurch.
The following day the Croydon boys took the first Ebbisham League Division 1 match, comfortably at Kingsmeadow.
A superb hat-trick of throws by Atarah Watson (U15) confirmed her as top scorer.
Her distances were 13.39m shot, 31=23m discus and 32.99m in the hammer, while Joachim Okugbe notched a valuable golden brace with wins from the U15 boys shot and discus, with efforts of 12m and 38.01m.
There were some other exciting areas of progress at Hornchurch. Notably, in the U13 high jump won by Daniella with a 1.47m clearance, a PB by an impressive 6cm.
The now sees her third equal in the UK. Daniella also headed the long jump. Ella Jade Wilson, last year’s UK number one U13, continued well her new age group season with her second 1.50m leap.
This currently ranks her seventh in her first year in the UK. Ifie Davids shone too with a very good 1.75m win in the U15 boys event, which moves him up to sixth equal in the UK.
The sprints produced the now-to-be anticipated welter of wins, high places and fast times and another across-the-board 100 per cent string of sprint relay firsts.
Croydon youngsters registered five sprint doubles with the icing on the cake being a clean sweep of the relays.
Some fine wins and well-fought high spots in the middle distances were particularly encouraging, helping to create more balanced team efforts.
Confident Malaka Trim took the U13 girls 800m while Audrey Agudu dominated the U15 girls 1500m.
At Kingsmeadow the next day, the Croydon boys clear win in their Ebbisham League match made it a most satisfying weekend.
