Crystal Palace boss asked if Maxence Lacroix was substituted with concussion in win against Brighton
Oliver Glasner said the fourth official Sam Allison gave the all clear for Crystal Palace to have an extra substitution slot to take off Maxence Lacroix in their 2-1 win over Brighton on Saturday.
The Eagles took off Lacroix after he landed awkwardly after going for the ball inside the penalty area with Brighton striker Joao Pedro.
Lacroix required immediate attention and was replaced by Joel Ward after going through what appeared to be head injury treatment on the ground.
Palace had already used all three substitution slots to bring on Eddie Nketiah, Ben Chilwell, Justin Devenny and Will Hughes.
But they were granted another slot to bring the veteran on to help see out the win.
The French centre-back walked off the pitch and celebrated in front of the Holmesdale at the end of the game.
“I don’t know,” said Glasner when asked if Lacroix came off with a concussion.
“We had three windows already, but we were allowed to do so and bring on an extra substitute.
“We had four subs before, so it wasn’t an additional sub, but it was an additional window.
“I was told by the fourth official that we could do it. The real reason behind it, I don’t know.
“But it was good because eight against 11 would have been tough.”
