Crystal Palace boss: Jefferson Lerma substitution allowed West Ham to create goalscoring situations
Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner agreed that Jefferson Lerma’s substitution allowed West Ham to create their goalscoring opportunities.
Lerma was starting his first game of the season, with Will Hughes missing out due to illness.
The Colombian was starting alongside Adam Wharton.
Ex-Bournemouth midfielder Lerma was taken off in the 63rd minute for Daichi Kamada, with West Ham scoring twice in the next nine minutes.
Fellow midfielder Cheick Doucoure was left on the bench.
“Yes, we can say that now,” said Glasner.
“In the first situation [goal], Daichi lost the duel against Wan-Bissaka. In the second [goal], Adam lost against Kilman.
“Then they create the situations.
“Jeff also had a yellow card, so maybe he would have made a foul, and it would have been a red card.
“Soucek could have maybe had a second yellow.
“It was the first start for Jeff after he came back. He had some issues.
“We have enough players who can play in the Premier League and enough who could have avoided these situations.
“But even if we avoided both goals we conceded, we would have had just one point because we didn’t score.”
