Crystal Palace injury news ahead of Brentford Premier League clash – Attacker suffers setback
Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner has revealed Matheus Franca will miss the opening Premier League weekend against Brentford after fracturing his rib in training.
The 20-year-old joined the Eagles from Flamengo last summer in a deal worth up to £26million, but suffered an injury-hit debut campaign.
Franca featured 12 times for the South Londoners and began to get a look-in under Glasner before suffering a groin injury – which required surgery – at the end of last season.
Marc Guehi, Joachim Andersen and Jean-Philippe Mateta, who are all subject to interest from other teams, are set to be involved in the squad for the visit to west London.
“All players are fit and available,” said Glasner.
“Franca, after his injury, trained with. Unfortunately, he has fractured his rib, so he will be out for the next weeks.
“All the other players are fit and have trained the whole week.”
