Crystal Palace reject St Mirren’s initial transfer approach for defender

Crystal Palace have rejected St Mirren’s initial approach to sign Kofi Balmer, the South London Press understands.

The 23-year-old has a year left to go on his deal at Selhurst Park but is allowed to leave this summer.

Balmer spent the second half of the season on loan at Wimbledon, where he made 17 appearances and picked up four goal contributions – one goal and three assists.

The Dons would be keen to re-sign Balmer on a permanent deal but the former Larne defender is targeting a return to Michael O’Neill’s Northern Ireland senior squad next season.

Balmer started the season on loan with Port Vale in League One before heading to Plough Lane.

St Mirren have secured a top-half finish in the Scottish Premiership and currently find themselves fifth in the table.

Balmer already has more than 150 senior appearances to his name during his career.
