Crystal Palace still to be without key attackers – Oliver Glasner delivers injury news ahead of Aston Villa

Oliver Glasner has confirmed that Eberechi Eze and Eddie Nketiah will still be out for Crystal Palace’s trip to Aston Villa on Saturday.

The Greenwich-born attacker has been absent since he picked up a hamstring injury in the 1-0 EFL Cup win at Aston Villa.

Eze has missed the last two Premier League outings against Wolves and Fulham.

The Palace boss also confirmed that Eddie Nketiah, hamstring, will be missing for the Eagles at Villa Park.

“Ebs would like to be involved in tomorrow’s game,” said Glasner.

“I took the decision not to take him with us because it’s a little bit too risky.

“He trained during the week, but it’s too close to when it happened.

“We have to protect our players. When we see the schedule after the Villa game, with eight games in December, we can’t take any risks.

“I had a long chat with him today – he wanted to be with us. I want him to play, but we have to protect him.”

Palace will welcome back Jefferson Lerma from the hamstring injury he suffered from the 1-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur.

Cheick Doucoure is also ready to start again after playing 60 minutes in a behind-closed-doors friendly during the international break.

Will Hughes, who was suspended for the 2-0 defeat to Fulham, will also be available for selection again.
