Crystal Palace winger off the mark in the Championship – Sheffield United loanee nets brace in Luton win
Crystal Palace winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi celebrated his 22nd birthday by scoring two in Sheffield United’s 2-0 win over Luton Town on Saturday.
Rak-Sakyi had already featured seven times for Chris Wilder’s side after joining on a season-long loan from Selhurst Park, but he scored his first Championship goals of the season in the victory over Rob Edwards’ side.
Over half of the second tier wanted to sign the talented wide player in the summer, with Leeds, Norwich, Burnley and Premier League side Southampton all registering interest in the summer.
“I’m over the moon,” said the former Charlton loanee.
“It’s been a very good day for the team and almost for myself as well. To celebrate my birthday and to help the team get two goals today is fantastic – I couldn’t really imagine anything like this.
“I had a lot of injuries last season, which set me back. I’m just grateful for everybody around me who is pushing me every day to do better.
“You always want to get a hat-trick, but it’s for the good of the team. I respect the gaffer’s decision.”
