Dillian Whyte produces savage knockout of Dereck Chisora at Greenwich’s 02 Arena

Dillian Whyte retained his WBC silver and WBO international heavyweight titles with a brutal 11th round knockout of Dereck Chisora.

The Brixton man produced a pulverising left hook to flatten the challenger, who needed medical attention on the canvas.

Whyte now looks set for a 2019 rematch with Anthony Joshua – with promoter Eddie Hearn claiming the South Londoner will soon be nominated as the WBO’s mandatory challenger.

Chisora started fast and had plenty of joy in the early rounds but seemed to slow from the start of the seventh.

And the Finchley man was not helped by two points deductions.

Whyte seemed to be coming on stronger in the closing stages and found an explosive ending to the contest.

Hearn, when asked about Whyte facing Joshua, said: “It’s only a matter of time – not if.

“I think Dillian Whyte is going to become WBO mandatory next year.

“The number one target [for Joshua] is Deontay Wilder.”

Whyte said: “I took my time. I hurt him in the first round and thought ‘go after him’ but then you think ‘relax, relax – you’ve got 12 rounds’.

“The main thing was being controlled and taking my time. I knew it would come.

“He [Chisora] can bring whatever he wants, I’ve been in these waters and I can swim. I wasn’t tired, I was pacing myself.”
