England role not set to be an issue for Charlton first-team coach Jason Euell
BY RICHARD CAWLEY
Charlton manager Nigel Adkins has given Jason Euell the green light to continue coaching with England U20s.
Euell was appointed the Addicks’ first-team coach on April 1. Previously he had been heading up the club’s development team.
But Euell had a conversation this week with Adkins about his role assisting Lee Carsley with the young Three Lions.
“Nigel is more than happy for me to continue to do it,” explained Euell. “I said I’d love to still do it but I’d totally understand if it couldn’t work – because I know this is my day to day and my bread and butter.
“But if we could continue it, brilliant. Because it works for myself and it works for the club as well.
“It’s going to be discussions we need to have again with myself, Ged [Roddy, technical director], Nigel and the FA, because it is something Lee is keen to continue – it was unfinished business really, covid shut down this season.
“I understand it if doesn’t work then brilliant, I’ve had a very good three years, I totally get that.”
