‘Finish things off properly’ – Burton boss wants to end season correctly at Charlton Athletic
Gary Bowyer wants to finish off the season in the correct manner after guiding Burton Albion to League One safety on Tuesday night.
The Brewers were bottom of the table and 11 points from safety on January 4, with just 14 points from their first 24 games.
Bowyer’s side relegated Crawley and Bristol Rovers after their 1-1 draw with Wigan during midweek – but the former Dundee boss wants to see the job through at The Valley tomorrow.
“This game is really important to us,” said Bowyer.
“As a manager, this result and performance carries all the way through the season.
“They’ve got something to fight for being in the play-offs so we can’t go down there thinking that there’s nothing in the game and we won’t allow the players to do that.
“Physically and mentally this league is relentless and all of us were exhausted.
“The group were tight in their celebrations on Tuesday night, they had every reason to celebrate, and they did but now its about making sure that we finish things off properly.”
