Former Crystal Palace manager Vieira lands Genoa post
Former Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira has been appointed as Genoa’s new boss.
The 48-year-old was sacked by the Eagles in 2023 after a 12-game winless run.
Vieira was also at the helm when the South London club reached the FA Cup semi-finals.
Genoa are 17th in Serie A.
Vieira has also had managerial spells as New York City, Nice and Strasbourg – he left the latter in July.
Genoa announced earlier this week that they had dismissed Alberto Gilardino.
They said in a press released: “Genoa CFC announces that Alberto Gilardino has been relieved of his duties.
“The club thanks Mister Gilardino for the goals we achieved together over the years and wishes him the best for his career.”
Vieira’s first match in charge of the Italian club is set to be at home to Cagliari on Sunday.
