Former Millwall boss lands Championship role at Coventry City
Former Millwall head coach Joe Edwards is back in football – as Frank Lampard’s number two at Coventry City.
The Sky Blues confirmed the appointment of the former Chelsea legend on a two-and-a-half-year contract.
And Edwards, who only had a short spell in charge of the Lions last season, has been brought in along with Chris Jones on the coaching side.
Edwards was installed as head coach of Millwall when Gary Rowett opted to step down but lasted just 19 matches in the Den hotseat, losing 11 of them, before he was replaced by Neil Harris.
The South Londoners were one place above the Championship drop zone when Edwards left his post with Harris producing an excellent upturn in results which pulled them mathematically clear of danger with matches to spare.
Edwards has been part of Lampard’s coaching teams at both Chelsea and Everton.
