“I hope” – Crystal Palace boss provides immediate Adam Wharton injury update after Nottingham Forest draw

Oliver Glasner said Adam Wharton rolled his ankle in Crystal Palace’s 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest on Monday.

However, the Eagles boss is hoping the injury the 21-year-old sustained is not too serious.

Wharton was substituted off in the 60th minute for Will Hughes and appeared to be moving gingerly in the moments leading up to his withdrawal.

The England midfielder, who had surgery on his groin earlier in the season and missed a chunk of games over November, December and January, was in discussion with the Palace manager when being taken off and headed straight down the tunnel.

Wharton played a key role in the Eagles’ 3-0 FA Cup semi-final win over Aston Villa.

Palace face Manchester City in the FA Cup Final on May 17.

“Not really,” said Glasner when asked if he had an update on Wharton’s injury.

“I hope it’s not that serious. I spoke to him. He’s a little bit sore.

“He twisted his ankle a little bit.

“We will update you, but I hope that it’s not that serious. It looks like it’s not that serious.”
