‘I’m a bit disappointed’ – QPR boss makes admission over Watford draw
QPR boss Marti Cifuentes felt his side did enough to claim all three points in their goalless draw at Watford on Saturday.
The west Londoners had 16 shots during the game but only managed one effort on target.
Cifuentes’ side had a great chance to win late on when Zan Celar, who got off the mark for the R’s with both goals in the 2-0 win at Cardiff last midweek, was played through on goal.
But the striker could only fire his effort off the post and away from goal.
QPR stayed 23rd in the Championship table and are two points from safety.
“It’s mixed feelings,” Cifuentes told QPR’s YouTube channel.
“I’m proud of the performance because the guys put a lot of really good work out there, but I’m never happy with the draw.
“With the number of chances we had and how well we played in parts of the game, I’m a bit disappointed about not getting the three points.
“The team started the game really well and we were growing into the first half.
“We had two clear chances to take the lead and that’s the bit we need to improve – taking those situations.
“They adjusted in the second half and we had to change a couple of details.
“The game became more open but we had the chances to win in the second half.
“Coming here and picking up a point against a team who have been doing well and have a fantastic record since the manager took over is not easy. It’s a good week.
“We finished the game strongly. All credit to our fans, who gave us strength for those final minutes.”
