‘It’s a massive game’ – Crystal Palace midfielder looks ahead to Millwall FA Cup clash

Adam Wharton is hoping Crystal Palace can progress deep into the latter stages of the FA Cup – but realises the importance of Saturday’s game against Millwall.

The Eagles host the Lions in the fifth round of the competition in an all-South London clash at Selhurst Park.

Midfielder Wharton made his first Premier League start since October in the 4-1 win over Aston Villa on Tuesday night. He played a role in all three goals during his time on the pitch.

“We’ve got to win and get to the next round of the FA Cup,” said Wharton.

“It’s a massive game for the fans. We go into it the same as any game, looking to win and progress to the next round.

“There are a lot of games to play. We didn’t have the best of starts to the season but we have picked up form now.

“There isn’t a specific aim for the rest of the season. We’re just trying to take each game as it comes and get as high up the pitch as possible.

“Hopefully in the FA Cup we can get through to the later stages and be close to winning a trophy.”
